The National Anthem is a song chosen by our nation to be sung or played on official occasions and to serve as its audible emblem, comparable to its visible emblem, the flag. An American lawyer and poet, Francis Scott Key, wrote it in Baltimore, Maryland in 1814. It was adopted by the U.S. Congress in 1931. Through the years, the National Anthem has preceded many important baseball games, such as the play-offs, All-Star games and the World Series. Our tournament takes pride in inviting local musical talent to participate in our traditional presentation of the National Anthem prior to each game. Throughout the years, many talented friends of baseball have participated in the singing and/or playing of the anthem prior to many of our games. They are listed alphabetically. More names will be added each year.
